Over the Top Hook

You are a really good player but suddenly you find that you are hitting a mean hook.

You might be swinging too far from the inside. When your hands come in too far inside of the target line, your hands will need to over work and almost need to flip over in order to make contact with the ball.

If it is not something as simple as your swing line you should videotape your swing, have a friend watch your swing, or have a pro analyze it. Look to see if the clubface is square at impact. Another possibility is that you are bringing the clubface into the wrong position on the way down; this flaw could be caused from a poor arm and club positioning at the top of your swing. One likely problem is that you are lifting the club up too soon in your backswing instead of moving it away and then up as you make a nice turn.
