Sand on the Clubface

You need help controlling the distances of your sand shots.

Try not to worry about how big of a follow through you have on the sand. Think more about how open you want your club and getting a powerful swing behind the ball, into the sand.

The longer you want your sand shot to be, the longer you will need to keep sand on the clubface. The more you open the club, the quicker the sand comes off of the clubface. Take a moment and really think about how the clubface interacts with the sand and the ball in the bunkers. The ball does not actually make contact with the clubface but instead, there can be a thick layer of sand between the ball and the clubface. If you open the clubface a lot then it will help move the sand off of the face quickly, thus causing a shorter shot.
